A Legacy of Love, Leadership, and Unconditional Giving
In memory of Rabbi Sholom Dovber HaKohen Stock ע”ה, founder of Camp Chomeish
For decades, Rabbi Stock ע”ה dedicated himself wholly to the Chinuch and well-being of thousands. He did so quietly, consistently, and with an unwavering heart.
One of his most beloved and lasting contributions in life was serving as the founder and director of Camp Chomeish–an overnight girls’ camp that touched and, in many cases transformed, countless lives.
To Rabbi Stock, every camper was family.
Whether or not a family could pay was never part of the equation. He simply wouldn’t turn anyone away. If a girl needed camp, she would have it. No questions asked. No explanations required. Camp provided approximately $150,000 in scholarships this year alone.
In the words of former campers:
“Nobody will ever know the amount of girls that had a summer camp experience solely because of Rabbi Stock. There are no people like this anymore. A humble Giant.”
“He cared for me when I was sick, made sure I was never put into an embarrassing situation, inspired me to be in the place I am today… Nothing was too small of a task for him and no one was too little a person.”
For Rabbi Stock it wasn't a business. It wasn't about running a camp. It was about creating a place where every Jewish girl could feel safe, seen, and cherished.
Now, as his family and community mourn this great loss, they are also committed to continuing his legacy in the most meaningful way – by ensuring that no child is ever turned away from Camp Chomeish due to lack of funds.
A scholarship fund has been established in Rabbi Stock’s memory to help carry this mission forward. It is a mission he lived and breathed with selflessness and devotion.
To contribute to his vision and honor his legacy please participate in the Rabbi Stock Scholarship Fund.
May his memory be a blessing and may every camper who benefits from this fund feel the light of his kindness for years to come.
